Morgan Hodgson

Secretary, Governance Chair

Morgan recently retired after a career as a litigation partner at a Washington DC law firm.  She and her husband Bill Lake raised their family in DC, and, after vacationing in Menemsha for 35 years, bought their Aquinnah home in 2008.  They have resided on island full time since early 2019, with their dogs, chickens, and, in the summer, their five adult children and families.

Morgan grew up with ponies and horses and first learned of equine assisted learning when her mother co-founded Pegasus Therapeutic Riding in Darien, CT in 1975.  On a 2021 visit to the farm,  Misty’s Haflinger pony Deborah cast her magical spell, and Morgan began volunteering as a horse leader in therapeutic riding classes.  She joined Misty’s adult lesson program and helps out around the barn whenever she can.  Her most special Misty moments are with the therapeutic riding program and quiet time spent with the four-legged staff.

Morgan’s other island volunteer work includes the Steering Committee for the Coalition to Create a Martha’s Vineyard Housing Bank, as a Board member on the Aquinnah Community Association, and as a founding member of Aquinnah’s Community Emergency Response Team.
