Kathleen S. Ellis

Kathleen is a life-long rider and horse enthusiast, now drawn to Misty Meadows as a rider and member of the Board. Kathleen, her husband, Todd, and their family, have been coming to the island for over 35 years and since 2019, have resided full time on the island.

Kathleen’s professional background comes from 45 years as an insurance executive. Her roles were quite varied and included property/casualty underwriting, global program development, multinational client development, management, and leadership roles across the globe.

She is passionate about her many professional and personal interests. She has led a number of initiatives within the industry as well as through her role as member of the board for the Buccino Center for Leadership Development at Seton Hall University. Kathleen has been active in a number of nonprofit organizations including: the American Lung Association, American Cancer Society, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Junior League of Poughkeepsie, NY and Summit, NJ. She has been recognized by a number of organizations including the NY YMCA, NJ YMCA, and Women in Insurance organizations for her ongoing commitment to community involvement and philanthropy.

Kathleen has a BA in Fine Arts with a concentration in Architecture and Historic Preservation and a minor in business. She graduated in 1980 from Marymount College/Fordham University. She has also achieved a Management Certificate from the Executive Program at Smith College.

Kathleen has many interests and enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, entertaining and anything related to horses and their care.
